Project Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a versatile Project Engineer to support engineering, estimating, and project management operations within a heavy industrial and custom fabrication environment.

In this role, you will play a key part across the complete project lifecycle—from initial drawing review and cost estimation to shop fabrication, subcontractor management, and field execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a cross-functional environment, seamlessly balancing technical codes, client communication, and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering & Design Review: Review customer technical specs and drawings to develop code-compliant designs (ASME, API, AWWA, NFPA, AISC, and local building codes).
• Estimating & Proposals: Generate detailed cost estimates for shop fabrication and field erection; prepare and issue technical and commercial proposals to clients.
• Procurement & Contracts: Build subcontractor RFQ packages, review customer terms and conditions, and manage contract change orders.
• Project Coordination: Act as the central hub aligning internal teams (drafting, purchasing, shop fabrication, and field erection crew) to meet schedule and quality targets.
• Client & Subcontractor Relations: Maintain consistent, clear communication with customers and manage vendors/subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
• Experience: 3 to 15 years of project engineering experience in process engineering, industrial manufacturing, custom fabrication, or heavy industrial construction.
• Certifications: PE (Professional Engineer) license or PMP certification preferred, but not required.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with pressure vessels, storage tanks, heavy structural steel, or industrial equipment.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical estimating skills, project management capability, and excellent written/verbal communication skills.

Preferred Background

• Prior experience working in an EPC, heavy fabrication shop, or industrial construction environment.
• Hands-on exposure to both office engineering and job-site/field operations.
• Engineers with a strong Structural Engineering background (commercial or petrochemical projects) looking to pivot into heavy industrial fabrication are strongly encouraged to apply!
