Senior Construction Estimator - Commercial Construction - Base Salary to 120k/year - Garwood, NJ
- Our client is a growing commercial construction contractor specializing in commercial fencing, perimeter security, gates, and Division 32 construction. They are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to independently estimate, bid, and manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout while maintaining project profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, addenda, bid packages, and construction documents.
- Perform detailed material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, qualifications, budgets, and bid packages.
- Solicit, evaluate, and level supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings.
- Develop relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, architects, and project stakeholders.
- Manage awarded commercial construction projects from kickoff through closeout.
- Coordinate project schedules, procurement, material deliveries, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews.
- Manage project budgets, billing, forecasting, cost tracking, and profitability.
- Prepare and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and closeout documentation.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, accounting, and field personnel throughout project execution.
- Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with contract requirements, schedules, and budgets.
- Manage punch lists, warranty documentation, and final project closeout.
- Assist with mentoring junior estimators and project staff.
- Support estimating and project management process improvements.
- Contribute to the continued growth of the commercial construction division.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of commercial construction estimating and/or project management experience.
- Proven experience preparing complete construction estimates and managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, civil, structural, landscape, and site plans.
- Experience performing material takeoffs, labor forecasting, subcontractor management, procurement, project budgeting, and cost control.
- Knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and estimating practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction estimating/takeoff software.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and active construction projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites, customer locations, and pre-bid meetings as required.
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 95k - 125k/year range
