Masonry Estimator - Construction - Base Salary to 120k/year - Wickliffe, OH
- Our client, an established commercial masonry contractor, is seeking an experienced Masonry Estimator to join its team in Wickliffe, OH. The company performs masonry work across commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, educational, and mixed-use construction projects ranging from $50,000 to $17 million.
- The Masonry Estimator will manage the estimating and bidding process from initial bid review through final proposal, performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for brick, block/CMU, stone, cast stone, precast, and related masonry scopes. This position will review construction drawings and specifications, develop pricing and labor productivity assumptions, coordinate supplier and subcontractor quotes, and prepare complete bid proposals. The role also works with Project Management and Operations to support project handoff from preconstruction through execution. This is a non-union position. The company provides fully paid individual medical insurance and may also cover applicable union-related fees for qualified candidates transitioning from a union environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, bid documents, addenda, and contract requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity and material takeoffs for brick, block/CMU, stone, cast stone, precast, and related masonry systems.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
- Determine labor requirements, production rates, and productivity assumptions based on project scope and conditions.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate supplier, vendor, and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, project risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Prepare competitive bid proposals and complete estimates according to established bid schedules and deadlines.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as needed.
- Collaborate with Project Management and Operations during project handoff and turnover.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and productivity data.
- Assist with conceptual budgets, negotiated work, and design-build opportunities.
- Track upcoming bid opportunities and support business development activities.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of estimating experience in commercial masonry construction.
- Experience estimating brick, block/CMU, stone, cast stone, precast, and related masonry systems.
- Knowledge of masonry installation methods, labor requirements, production rates, and construction practices.
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs, material takeoffs, and cost estimates.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, construction specifications, and bid documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
