Machinist - Plastics Manufacturing - Base Salary to 30.00/hour - Chaska, MN
- Our client, a reputable plastics manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Machinist to join their onsite team in Chaska, MN.
- The Machinist will set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, machine precision plastic components, perform CNC setup and programming support, and ensure parts meet quality and tolerance requirements in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Download and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and work order specifications to determine machining requirements and machine setups.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools including CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, manual lathes, grinders, and 5-axis machining equipment to manufacture precision plastic components within specified tolerances.
- Install cutting tools, fixtures, workholding devices, and accessories required for CNC machining operations and verify CNC program readiness.
- Support first-run production by programming CNC mills and CNC lathes using Mastercam and transferring machining programs to production equipment.
- Communicate machine setup parameters, machine offsets, tooling information, and CNC settings to manufacturing operators.
- Issue materials and accurately process work orders, production transactions, and inventory activity using SAP and other manufacturing systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, machine cleaning, and routine equipment upkeep.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, indicators, precision measuring equipment, and Camline to verify quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Identify machining or quality issues, perform basic troubleshooting, and escalate concerns as appropriate.
- Complete Production Reports, Rack Tickets, Labels, Component Sheets, Rework Sheets, SAP transactions, and quality documentation.
- Participate in 6S, Kaizen, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, organized work area while following established safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, and 5-axis machining equipment.
- Knowledge of machining operations, cutting tools, tool selection, machine setup, and precision machining.
- Knowledge of G-code and M-code programming.
- Experience using Mastercam for CNC programming.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers and indicators.
- Experience working with SAP or other manufacturing ERP systems.
- Ability to work onsite in Chaska, MN.
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 24.00 - 30.00/hour range
