Position Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer supports the design, development, and production of stainless-steel tanks and related systems. This role requires strong expertise in metal fabrication, pressure vessel design, and process engineering. Experience with semiconductor ultra-clean fabrication standards and sanitary design for pharmaceutical applications is a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
- Design and analyze stainless-steel tanks and pressure vessels ensuring ASME code compliance, proper material selection, and welding standards.
- Create and review engineering drawings, 3D models, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct stress analysis, tolerance studies, and design-for-manufacturability evaluations.
- Support and improve CAD modeling practices, design standardization, and engineering workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations and Sales to ensure designs meet project requirements, cost targets, and production timelines.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in customer-specific engineering discussions and assist with custom design requirements.
Process & Product Improvement
- Recommend and implement manufacturing improvements to enhance product quality, efficiency, and reliability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to materials, welding processes, and fabrication techniques.
- Support new product development for food & beverage, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor industries.
Compliance & Regulatory
- Ensure designs meet ISO 9001 standards, safety guidelines, and environmental requirements.
- Working knowledge of CE, SELO, ASME, and related regulations.
- Support documentation related to UN/DOT shipping regulations for hazardous materials and international transport compliance.
Industry-Specific Expertise
- Support design engineering for ultra-pure chemical storage and delivery systems used in semiconductor fabrication.
- Apply cleanroom and contamination-control requirements as needed.
- Utilize sanitary design principles for food and pharmaceutical applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in metal fabrication, pressure vessels, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
- 2 years of project or people leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of stainless-steel properties, welding processes (TIG/MIG), and ASME pressure vessel standards.
- Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling; ERP system familiarity is a plus.
- Experience with UN shipping regulations and hazardous-material transport requirements (preferred).
- Familiarity with semiconductor-industry standards and contamination-control requirements (preferred).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
