What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER Dance Instructor position at Allison's Dance Center LLC?
*This is a summer dance instructor position, with the potential for future opportunities.
Job Overview: The instructors will run and teach fine arts classes, while creating a fun and positive environment for their students. They will also have weekly lesson plans and will prepare recital pieces (if applicable) and teach them to their students in a fun and effective way.
Job Duration: June 8, 2026-August 7, 2026
Location: Cedar Falls, IA
Responsibilities and Duties: (subject to change)
- Create/adapt weekly lesson plans
- Implement any curriculum provided
- Create a fun and positive environment - being consistent and fair with all students
- Sub for and help other instructors when needed
- Be 100% focused on their students the entire class period and give 100% (high energy)
- Work events - kickoff celebration, open houses, mini camps, pictures, recital, etc.
- Choreograph recital dances (if applicable)
- Choose and cut appropriate music for dances (if applicable)
- Support dancers at rehearsals and performances as much as possible
- Arrive on time and be prepared
- Leave the studio as they found it or better (clean up after class)
- Align all work and behavior with the core values
- Attend and actively participate in staff trainings
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Mentor any assigned TAs
- Communicate issues, notable events, or ideas with the Education Manager
- Complete all applicable paperwork in a timely manner (tax docs, schedule preferences, injury reports, etc.)
- Have a growth mindset - welcome feedback
- Problem solve
- Be a positive role model (modeling our core values) in and out of the classroom
Key Performance Indicators: Retention data, spot checks, attendance
Pay Structure: Turn in an invoice for time worked - paid hourly
Days/Times: Our regular summer class hours are Mondays-Thursdays from 5:00-8:15pm. Specific instructor schedules will be finalized based on studio needs and instructor availability.
