- Pay Rate: $28 to $30 per hour
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Operate sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, low-temperature sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer-disinfectors
- Inspect surgical instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before assembly
- Assemble instrument trays according to department specifications and surgical preference cards
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and biological monitoring documentation
- Ensure compliance with AAMI, OSHA, CDC, and facility sterilization standards
- Prepare case carts and distribute sterile supplies to operating rooms and procedural departments
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with stocking sterile supplies
- Identify equipment requiring repair or replacement and report issues promptly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Sterile Processing Department
- Collaborate with Operating Room staff and other clinical departments to ensure instrument availability and timely case support
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Sterile Processing Technician experience in an acute care hospital
- Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification required by facility policy
- Current BLS Certification required
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection prevention, and instrument processing standards
- Experience with surgical instrumentation and sterilization equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care through proper instrument processing
