Shift Type: 3 shifts per week (days vary), 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM Day shift, every other weekend

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapies to patients across the hospital
• Manage ventilators and respiratory equipment, ensuring safe operation and accurate settings
• Deliver nebulized treatments, oxygen therapy and airway management with clinical precision
• Monitor patient response and collaborate with physicians and nurses to adjust care plans
• Perform patient assessments, document care thoroughly, and contribute to care rounds
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help maintain departmental standards
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, home therapies and equipment

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Vermont or eligibility to obtain VT licensure
• CRT or RRT credential preferred (or equivalent clinical certification)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable with ventilator management and common respiratory modalities
• Professional, compassionate approach with strong communication and teamwork skills
• Previous acute care or hospital respiratory therapy experience preferred

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred; equivalent clinical training considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of respiratory assessment and treatment modalities
• Proficiency with mechanical ventilators and airway management
• Ability to interpret blood gases and adjust therapy accordingly
• Familiarity with infection control and hospital safety protocols
• Clear clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Comfort working in a small critical access hospital setting with varied responsibilities
