Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week contract in Tacoma, WA. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions, ensuring effective treatment and patient safety in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and breathing treatments
- Manage ventilators and airway support equipment
- Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases (ABGs) and pulmonary function tests
- Respond to emergency situations, including code blue and rapid response calls
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and adjust care plans
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Active Washington state Respiratory Therapist license
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (preferred)
- Current BLS, ACLS (AHA preferred); PALS/NRP preferred based on facility needs
- Strong knowledge of respiratory care procedures and equipment
- Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
