GI Technician - Endoscopy

Location: Long Beach, CA

Start Date: 05-11-2026

End Date: 08-10-2026

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour day shifts; start times vary between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM depending on case schedule). Weeknight on-call coverage 3:30 PM - 7:00 AM and 24-hour weekend on-call (self-assigned rotation, every-other-weekend expectation). Day with night/weekend on-call responsibilities

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $41 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist with and scrub for endoscopic procedures including ERCP, EGD and PEG placements
• Prepare and turnover 3-bay procedure rooms efficiently to support 15–30 procedures/day
• Monitor patients during procedural sedation and perform safety checks per protocol
• Document procedures and patient care accurately in Cerner
• Coordinate with RT, pharmacy and charge nurse to ensure smooth after-hours coverage
• Provide OR assistance for GI procedures and support bronchoscopy cases with RT as needed
• Participate in call rotation and respond promptly to after-hours needs

Qualifications

• RN or GI Tech status acceptable; license to submit required
• BLS required; ACLS and procedural sedation competency test required for RN candidates
• GI certification preferred (GI techs should have BLS)
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant endoscopy/GI procedural experience
• Demonstrated experience with ERCP, EGD and PEG procedures
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system and acute care documentation
• Ability to work in a fast-paced lab supporting a high daily case volume

Education

• BSN not required
• RN licensure or GI Tech certification/license as applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong procedural skills in endoscopy (ERCP, EGD, PEGs and all scopes)
• Proficient in procedural sedation monitoring and safety protocols
• Comfortable scrubbing and assisting in OR-based GI cases
• Skilled at Cerner electronic charting and procedure documentation
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams (RT, pharmacy, charge nurse)
• Adaptability to variable start times and on-call rotations
