Echosonographer

Shift Type: Five 8-hour day shifts with rotating evening/night/weekend on-call rotation; potential for overtime

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality transthoracic (TTE) and transesophageal (TEE) echocardiography studies with professionalism and attention to patient comfort
• Conduct contrast echocardiography (Optison/Definity) and bubble studies accurately and safely
• Execute exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography per protocol
• Provide pediatric TTE when needed for rare pediatric cases with appropriate care and technique
• Accurately document study findings and maintain clear records in Athena, Meditech and PICOM
• Collaborate with cardiologists, cath lab teams and multidisciplinary staff to ensure optimal patient care
• Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment and participate in quality assurance activities
• Respond promptly and professionally while participating in evening, night and weekend on-call rotations

Qualifications

• RDCS required, or equivalent credential such as CCI or ARDMS
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Proven experience performing TTE, TEE, stress echocardiography and contrast studies
• Familiarity with Philips EPIC, Philips CX50, Siemens ACUSON SC2000 and Siemens Origin imaging platforms
• Comfortable working across inpatient, outpatient clinic, ER and cath lab environments
• Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude; open to feedback
• Left-handed scanner preferred
• Willingness to participate in rotating evening/night/weekend on-call schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in echocardiography protocols: TTE, TEE, exercise and dobutamine stress testing
• Experience with contrast agents (Optison, Definity) and bubble study techniques
• Proficient with Philips and Siemens ultrasound systems listed in the job details
• Familiarity with EMR systems: Athena, Meditech and PICOM
• Strong patient care skills, including working with diverse populations and occasional pediatric cases
• Good documentation practices and ability to communicate findings clearly to physicians
• Teamwork, adaptability, and openness to feedback in a dynamic clinical environment
