Job Description
The part-time Training Role Player supports Training Operations by simulating various situations and incidents which protectors may encounter, within the framework of a scripted Situational Training Exercise (STX). Role Player assignments during each STX are designed to help students achieve specific learning objectives; for this reason, it is imperative that Role Players are professional and follow instructions precisely. Interactions with students can range from dynamic to extremely subtle. Role Player activities throughout each STX will be closely monitored and directed by the instructor cadre.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Role Player assignments are available on an intermittent/ semi-regular basis, as determined by the training schedule and the learning objectives of each course. Role Players will be notified of upcoming opportunities as early as possible, and may accept or decline assignments based upon personal availability. Assignments typically run between two and five consecutive days, with Role Players working four to eight hours per day. On average, Training Operations delivers between five and seven courses per year within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area.
- Depending on the requirements of each Situational Training Exercise (STX), Role Players may be asked to portray one or more of the following:
- Principal (protectee)
- Hostile surveillance / stalker
- Paparazzi
- Excited fan / autograph seeker
- Disgruntled shareholder / former employee
- Bystander
- Attacker / assailant
- Other roles, as required.
- Assignments may involve use of basic disguises or temporary alterations to personal appearance (changes of clothing, hats, glasses, hairstyle, accessories, etc.). Role Players should be comfortable conversing with a variety of people, and possess the ability to look and feel natural in a range of environments while executing specific objectives. Role Players may be expected to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods, run short distances, and carry objects up to 25 lbs.
- Role Players will be provided with start and end times, attire guidelines, and a starting location for each confirmed assignment. Briefings will be held shortly before each assignment to discuss objectives, guidelines, and safety considerations. Role Players may or may not receive a comprehensive script in advance. Objectives and destinations may be altered in real time during certain scenarios; such changes are not indented to cause Role Players to “fail,” but rather to create patterns of movement or behavior supporting the STX narrative and enable students to achieve specific learning objectives. Role Players should always feel free to contact instructors with any questions or concerns.
- Prior law enforcement, military, executive protection, and intelligence experience is valued, but not required. Relevant experience and training may make certain individuals more suitable for specific roles or scenarios. Professional credentials (e.g. guard card, PI license, etc.) are not required within the scope of this position.
- Neither Role Players nor students are permitted to carry weapons of any kind during training scenarios. In the interest of safety, physical contact between students and Role Players is prohibited. Non-contact techniques will be employed during simulated attack on principal (AOP) scenarios in public spaces. Time, location, and execution of all AOP scenarios are carefully planned and directly supervised by instructors to mitigate the risk of injury or incident.
- Role Players will never be expected to perform unsafe or illegal actions. If a Role Player feels that any aspect of a scenario would place them in an unsafe position (e.g., crossing against traffic, running a red light, entering a dark alley alone), they should forego that action and notify instructors immediately. Scenarios will be reset or adjusted as necessary; the safety of role players, students, instructors, and the public supersedes all other training considerations.
- Unless otherwise specified, Role Players must be local to the training location. Travel expenses are not reimbursable. Role Players must have a valid driver’s license and access to transportation. Incidental expenses incurred during training scenarios (e.g., parking, fuel, coffee, event tickets, tips, etc.) are reimbursable upon submission of receipts.

- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with smartphone communication apps (Signal, WhatsApp)
- Problem solving ability, punctuality, and ability to precisely follow directions
- Ability to blend and adapt within a wide variety of environments and situations
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

- Experience in military special operations, conventional military, law enforcement, intelligence, investigations, or executive protection.
