Allied Testing Laboratories is seeking a Professional Engineer (P.E.) to join our growing team in Springfield, Massachusetts. We are a trusted construction materials testing and inspection laboratory serving contractors, developers, engineers, and public agencies throughout the region. Our work supports critical infrastructure, commercial development, and transportation projects through quality assurance, testing, and inspection services.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a licensed engineer who enjoys both technical problem-solving and field involvement in the construction industry. This position is Flexible and can be Part Time or Full Time depending the individual.
Position Summary
The Professional Engineer will oversee testing operations, review laboratory and field testing and inspection data, prepare technical reports, and provide professional engineering judgment for a variety of construction materials and geotechnical projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction materials testing, special inspections, geotechnical engineering, or related disciplines. Salary based on individual candidates and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and certify engineering reports, laboratory data, and inspection findings
- Provide technical oversight for construction materials testing and special inspection projects
- Interpret project specifications, plans, and applicable codes/standards
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, architects, and clients
- Perform site visits and field evaluations as needed
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, CCRL, ACI, and applicable industry standards
- Assist in proposal preparation and client development
- Mentor and support laboratory and field staff
- Maintain quality assurance and safety standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain reciprocity)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- General knowledge of ASTM, ACI, ICC, and related construction standards
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local project sites
Preferred Experience
- Experience with concrete, asphalt, soils, and aggregate testing
- ICC, ACI, or NETTCP certifications
- Familiarity with laboratory quality systems and accreditation requirements
