Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shop Helper – Deburring to support our manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for removing burrs, sharp edges, and minor surface imperfections from machined components while maintaining part quality and dimensional requirements.
This is a hands-on shop-floor position suited for someone who is comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and production equipment and is willing to learn manufacturing processes.
This is a temporary position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual deburring and edge finishing on machined parts.
- Remove burrs and sharp edges using hand tools, files, abrasive pads, deburring tools, and approved power tools.
- Visually inspect parts before and after deburring.
- Follow work instructions and established quality standards.
- Handle parts carefully to prevent scratches, dents, thread damage, or other defects.
- Clean parts and work areas as required.
- Separate and report damaged or questionable parts.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and use required PPE.
- Assist with other general shop-floor and production activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing, machine-shop, deburring, polishing, grinding, or metal-finishing experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform repetitive hands-on work while maintaining consistent quality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
- Basic understanding of part drawings or willingness to learn.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a deburring team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit or use microscopes for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Ability to lift and move parts or containers within established shop lifting limits.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment around machinery, metal parts, oils, and production equipment.
Preferred Skills
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Manual deburring
- Metal finishing
- Abrasive finishing
- Pneumatic or electric rotary tools
- Files and deburring blades
- Grinding or polishing
- Stainless-steel components
- Threaded or precision-machined parts
- Basic inspection equipment such as calipers
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
