Technical Writer – Equipment Manuals & Illustrations
We have a new career opportunity for a Technical Illustrator/Writer in our Marketing/Communications Department. Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, task oriented and driven to improve processes.
The primary responsibility of this position is the research, development, production, and revision of Service, Parts and Operators manuals for all product lines including Crane, Freeman Hay Balers, Long Reach Forklift Attachments, Winch, Wagner Log Stackers and Chip Dozers. This includes working on Service and Parts Bulletins, Kit Lists, Specification Sheets, Suggested Spares Guides and other projects.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop parts and service manuals from engineering and/or vendor data.
- Consults with personnel from engineering, purchasing, final assembly, parts department, service department, marketing, and various vendors.
- Physical checks on machines/cranes and their component parts – makes notes and sketches and/or photographs as required.
- Uses databases to obtain and maintain information
- Creates pictorial and orthographic illustrations (Inventor, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, etc.).
Skill Requirements:
- This position requires that one be familiar with engineering documentation procedures.
- A basic understanding of mechanical equipment is required.
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain accurate records and files.
Software Skills:
- Must have some experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, Dreamweaver, etc.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Must be skilled in technical writing, with an ability to create concise grammatically correct procedures.
- Prior experience with CAD software, including Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD is preferred, but not required.
