Position Summary
The Sign Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of commercial signage in the field. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a customer-first mindset. Technicians serve as a key point of contact for clients while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Allied’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform service, maintenance, and repair on various types of commercial signage (illuminated and non-illuminated)
Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and structural issues and implement effective solutions
Troubleshoot sign failures, lighting issues, wiring, and control systems
Complete field service calls in a timely and professional manner
Communicate clearly with customers regarding service needs, findings, and recommendations
Ensure all tools, equipment, and service vehicles are properly maintained and used safely
Document service work, materials used, and job completion details accurately
Follow all company safety protocols and OSHA guidelines
Collaborate with internal teams (dispatch, production, and project management) as needed
Qualifications
Experience in sign service, electrical work, or related maintenance/repair field preferred
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in technical environments
Working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and basic mechanical components
Ability to operate tools and equipment safely in field conditions
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile role
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights if required
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications are a plus
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
