Role Summary
The Lead Installer Level 1 is the first leadership step beyond Install Assistant Level 3. This role leads installation crews on standard projects, ensures job readiness, enforces safety and quality standards, and serves as the primary point of contact in the field while continuing to refine advanced technical skills.
Successful completion of Level 1 requirements prepares employees for advancement within the Install Lead career path.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Field Work
Perform all installation duties at or above Install Assistant Level 3 standards
Lead installation of interior and exterior signage, including:
Channel letters
Wall and cabinet signs
Freestanding, custom, and directional signs
Neon, fluorescent, and LED systems
Diagnose and complete sign service and repair work (structural, electrical, aesthetic)
Perform basic onsite stick welding (small welds; no major structural welding)
Set pipe and pour concrete pads independently
Calculate concrete quantities required for job sites
Call in Blue Stakes and accurately interpret utility markings
Identify, communicate, and document change orders as they occur
Equipment Operation
Safely operate ladder trucks, forklifts, and aerial lifts
Demonstrate working knowledge of crane operation (certification in progress)
Conduct DOT-mandated pre-trip and post-trip inspections
Ensure all tools, vehicles, and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition
Leadership & Communication
Lead small installation teams and coordinate daily job execution
Ensure team compliance with all safety procedures and installation standards
Review work orders in advance and clarify scope prior to job start
Walk jobs prior to departure and ensure all required materials are loaded
Communicate with AE before leaving for and departing job sites
Submit progress and completion photos for all assigned work
Create a positive, productive team environment and work toward meeting deadlines
Required Qualifications
Completion of all Install Assistant Level 3 requirements:
Valid Driver’s License (required)
Ability to pass a DOT medical exam (no CDL required).
Must pass a pre-employment DOT drug/alcohol test.
U.S. Work Authorization.
Ability to work outdoors and at heights when required (using a ladder or Boom)
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Positive attitude and commitment to safety.
Welding, electrical, or construction experience is a plus
Familiarity with hand tools and power tools (preferred)
Reliable attendance and compliance with company policies
Willingness to learn and take direction
Experience Requirements
Minimum 1 year at Install Assistant Level 3, or equivalent Lead Installer experience at another sign company with verifiable references
DOT & Compliance Requirements
Maintain a valid CDL Class A or B
Maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate
Comply with all FMCSA regulations, including:
Hours-of-service rules
Vehicle inspections
Safe operation standards
Immediately report any accidents, moving violations, or changes affecting CDL status
Monday–Friday | Daytime shifts vary
Local routes with occasional overnight travel.
No long-haul driving required.
