Job description
A leading food manufacturing and distribution company is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Director to oversee all food safety and quality assurance across its operations (New England). This leadership role is responsible for developing and maintaining a culture of quality, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and certification requirements, and driving operational excellence throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food manufacturing quality systems, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of managing regulatory compliance programs within a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the company's Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and certification requirements.
- Maintain and improve quality management systems, including HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, and third-party certifications (SQF, etc.).
- Direct internal audits, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and corrective action initiatives.
- Oversee product quality, labeling compliance, traceability, allergen controls, and food safety programs.
- Analyze quality metrics, customer feedback, and operational data to identify risks and implement solutions.
- Lead, develop, and mentor QA staff while fostering a culture of food safety and quality excellence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and key customers regarding quality and compliance matters.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Food Safety or similar industry field. Recommended but not mandatory.
Preferred: Food Industry related field.
EXPERIENCE
5 to 10 years of QA Managerial experience.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
Proven managing experience.
Experience in building HACCP systems.
HACCP certified
