What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Engineer position at Allied Reliability?
We're seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven engineer to support and improve our automation systems. This role will focus on programming industrial robots and PLCs, assisting maintenance staff with troubleshooting, and driving projects that increase efficiency and reliability across our automation processes.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience in industrial automation or mechanical engineering (plastic injection molding experience a plus). Experience with industrial robot programming (e.g., Fanuc, or similar) and PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens). MINUMIM EXPERIENCE: Experience with sensors, pneumatics, vision systems, relays, servos and drives. QUALIFICATIONS: Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing automation systems. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Comfortable working on the floor in a fast-paced production environment.
DUTIES
Program and optimize industrial robots and PLCs to support production needs.
Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related equipment issues alongside maintenance staff.
Lead and support continuous improvement projects to increase automation efficiency and uptime.
Design or modify mechanical and control systems for new or existing equipment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (maintenance, production, engineering) to implement automation upgrades and maintenance programs.
Support installation and commissioning of new automated systems
Create and maintain documentation for equipment, programs, and procedures.
• Knowledge of CNC Machining • Basic knowledge of the plastic processing and troubleshooting of thermoplastic molds. • Math skills. • Electrical skills • Computer skills. • MUST be available for OT when needed. • MUST be able to be on-call as needed.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance and reliability engineering practices. • CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred). • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Experience working in injection molding facility.
