Senior Accountant

Position Description:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance & Accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization.

Essential Functions:

1. Prepare and examine accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
2. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. Conducts regular ledger maintenance and audits.
3. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
4. Perform reconciliation(s) of Balance Sheet accounts.
5. Develop and implement proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
6. Perform monthly close functions, including journal entries and schedule preparation.
7. Delegate financial responsibilities to accounting team
8. Assist CFO with conducting audits
9. Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
10. Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Required Education, Experience, Certification and Licenses:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
2. Minimum 1-3 years accounting experience, CPA candidate (preferred)
3. Knowledge of GAAP, Knowledge of Accounts Payable and Payroll
4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
