What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Operations Specialist position at Allied Pediatrics?
SCHEDULE
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or later if required to complete all daily activities)
- On occasion some evening and weekend work may be required
OVERVIEW
The primary function of the Patient Operations Specialist is to support patients through care coordination, serving as their primary point of contact for all customer service, administrative and scheduling needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Represent the practice in a professional manner at all times
- Be aligned with the office’s philosophy on vaccines, use of medications and the overall quality of care
- Take ownership of looking at provider schedules (daily and annual), address errors, and know where appointments should be added
- Call patients on the patient call lists and insurance call lists and schedule appointments
- Verify patient insurance policies as appointments are scheduled
- Manage all delinquent patient accounts before and during the collections process (Self-pay accounts worklist)
- Collect patient payments over the phone
- Create patient cases for incoming calls as appropriate
- Process new patient paperwork, register patients, send for medical records, and schedule new patients as appropriate
- Maintain ownership and daily completion of the “no show” / patient dismissal process
- Assist with other administrative projects as needed
- Assist with bimonthly department meetings
- Maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance at all times
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Generate reports as required
REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- At least two years of experience in a medical environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Spanish speaking
