DVM / Emergency Veterinarian
Full Time, Part Time, Relief
We are looking for an emergency clinician to join our team! Part time, full time, or relief...we are flexible! The DVM is the lead medical authority during their shift and the primary decision-maker in patient care. Responsibilities include diagnosing, prescribing, performing procedures, and developing treatment plans in alignment with American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) standards and ethical veterinary practice. The DVM also fosters a positive, collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, prescribe, and manage treatment plans for patients under care
- Perform surgeries and medical procedures as appropriate for the case
- Make final decisions on all medical matters and care approaches
- Complete all documentation in a timely manner, including but not limited to medical records, radiology reports, surgical notes, and progress exams
- Confirm with staff before finalizing and sending records to the referring DVM (rDVM)
- Maintain clear, professional communication with referring DVMs, clients, and internal staff
- Lead by example with professionalism, collaboration, and accountability
- Maintain a positive attitude and minimize unconstructive discussions
- Always present the highest standard of care as the initial recommendation, adapting as appropriate based on client limitations or expectations
- Support workflow as needed, including answering phones or assisting with treatments and diagnostics during limited staffing
- Must be licensed DVM in Wisconsin.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
