Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and tanker trucks, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload freight containers, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to follow assigned routes for over-the-road (OTR) driving routes and local deliveries.
- Manage the manual handling of logistics cargo, including loading and unloading containers with care to prevent damage or injury.
- Deliver waste or freight to designated locations with precision, maintaining excellent customer service throughout each interaction.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure safety standards are met; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, load & unload activities, and compliance logs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, and automobile transportation is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT guidelines, hazardous materials regulations, and hazard communication protocols.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently; experience with truck loading/unloading equipment preferred.
- Skilled in GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments during deliveries.
- Excellent manual handling skills for cargo management; capable of load & unload procedures involving freight or logistics cargo handling.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for tractor-trailer operations; clean driving record required.
