Overview
We are looking for a reliable, professional CDL driver for on-call equipment moves across the country.
This is not a traditional over-the-road or dedicated route position. Instead, you will be dispatched as needed to fly or drive (rental car) to a job site, move specialized equipment, and then return home by flight or rental car.
You are paid $30 per hour port-to-port. This means you are paid for:
- Travel time to the job (flight or rental car)
- Time spent moving the equipment
- Travel time returning home
Example:
5 hours flight 10 hours driving/moving equipment 5 hours return flight = 20 hours × $30 = $600 for the trip.
Duties
- Travel to job sites via commecial flight or rental vehicle as directed
- Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and refrigerated trailers to transport freight between ports and designated locations
- LoPerform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) guidelines
- TCommunicate clearly with dispatch and on-site personnel
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure truck safety and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Follow all safety procedures related to trucking operations, including load securement, hazard communication, and emergency response protocols
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Skills
- Proven experience with commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving in various environments
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operation, flatbed handling, tanker operations, and freight logistics cargo handling
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time adjustments
- Valid class A CDL - minimum of 1 year experience
- Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling
- Skilled in manual transmission operation for tractor-trailers and other heavy-duty trucks
- Experience with over-the-road (OTR) driving routes involving long-distance travel across states or regions
- Strong commitment to safety standards including truck loading/unloading procedures and hazard communication protocols
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safe driving practices in compliance with all federal and state transportation laws
- Experience with ELDs
- Ability to travel on short notice (on-call)
- Clean driving record
- Comfortable flying and/or driving rental vehicles long distances
- Reliable, professional, and self-sufficient
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check
Schedule & Work Style
- Fully on-call / as-needed basis
- No set schedule — work only when we have equipment moves
- Trips can range from 1 day to multiple days depending on the job
- You go home after every assignment
Compensation
- $30.00 per hour port-to-port
- Paid for all travel time working time
- Direct deposit
