Supervisory Responsibilities
- None at the start but maybe added as needed
- Assist lab personal with sample analysis and reporting as needed.
- Supervise daily laboratory activities, ensuring timely and accurate sample analysis and reporting.
- Provide technical support and guidance to analysts and technicians on routine procedures and equipment use.
- Monitor compliance with SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory standards (e.g., EPA, CARB, SCAQMD, NELAC, etc.).
- Assist in calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation.
- Review and approve test results, documentation, and data entry in LIMS.
- Support onboarding and training of new staff in technical procedures and compliance.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager to implement process improvements and meet performance goals.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to lab operations and quality metrics.
- Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
$29.00-$38.00/hour DOE
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong understanding of laboratory testing principles and instrumentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve routine technical issues.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and technical documentation practices.
- Familiarity with ChemStation and PeakSimple software.
- Intermediate understanding of quality assurance practices and regulatory compliance.
- Effective communication and team leadership skills.
- Ability to train and mentor junior staff.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of laboratory experience, including some supervisory or lead responsibilities OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Familiarity with laboratory accreditation requirements such as NELAC or ISO 17025 would be beneficial.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout laboratory and office environments.
- Manual dexterity to operate laboratory instruments and computer systems.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and environmental samples, using appropriate PPE
