Job Title: Quality Control
Job Summary:
The QC is responsible and accountable for supporting the Alliance Steel Quality & Safety principles through monitoring and inspecting all products during the manufacturing cycle and prior to leaving the plant for delivery.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- · Read and interpret shop prints for your area
- · Inspect the pieces in your area
- · Engage with the Welder/Fitter or Operator/Associate about issues and how to fix
- · Answer questions about code or policy/procedure (Tolerances)
- · Fill out applicable documents (Examples: NCRs, Manifest, Safety Observation Cards, etc.) 100% and promptly
- · Adheres to company policy
- · Adheres to attendance policy
- · Follows safety criteria for assigned areas
- · Any other duties assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- · Minimum of 2 years’ welding experience (CWI is not required)
- · Be able to read a tape measure to 1/16th inch quickly & accurately
- · Understanding or the overall operation of the entire plant
- · Read and understand prints at a high level of expertise
- · Ability to coordinate your efforts with the Shop Supervisors to avoid work delays
- · Must be proficient with inspection tools
- · Excellent written and verbal skills
- · Excellent problem-solving skills
- · Perform other duties as assigned
Preferences:
- · Experience with AWS D1.1
- · Previous weld inspection
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds regularly
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- Ability to safely operate and work around heavy machinery and move materials
