Job Summary
This position is responsible for supervising a team of loaders to ensure materials are loaded safely, accurately, and in accordance with shipping schedules and company standards.
The Loader Supervisor is a working supervisor who provides leadership, direction, and hands-on support while coordinating with shop leadership, shipping personnel, and drivers to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and lead a team of loaders
- Assign work, set daily priorities, and monitor productivity
- Train employees in proper loading, safety procedures, and company policies
- Enforce safety rules, performance expectations, and operational standards
- Address performance issues and escalate concerns to management as needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist with loading metal building materials onto trailers using forklifts
- Ensure loads are accurate, secure, and properly documented for shipping manifests
- Verify materials against work orders and shipping documentation
- Coordinate daily loading activities with Shop Supervisors, Leads, and Shipping Coordinators
- Communicate with drivers regarding load readiness and requirements
- Maintain accurate records related to loads, materials, and completed shipments
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable DOT regulations
- Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Assist with resolving scheduling conflicts, material shortages, or loading issues
- Perform hands-on loading duties as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team in a production or industrial environment
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of safe forklift operation and loading practices
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations related to shipping and loading
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and external drivers
Education and Experience
- Forklift operation experience required
- Prior experience as a loader required
- Supervisory or lead experience preferred
- Experience in steel or metal building manufacturing preferred
- Bilingual skills are a plus

Safety Requirements and Expectations
· Consistently follow and enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and rules
· Ensure loaders are trained on and comply with safe loading practices, forklift operation, and hazard awareness
· Identify, report, and assist in correcting safety hazards, near misses, and incidents
· Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations.
· Conduct routine safety observations and immediately address unsafe behaviors or conditions
· Lead by example by performing all work in a safe and responsible manner
