Senior Accountant – Benefits & Compensation Accounting
We are partnering with a large multinational company to identify a Senior Accountant for a specialized contract assignment supporting benefits and compensation accounting. This role is mostly on-site and slated to run for approximately 6 months.
This is not a traditional general-ledger role. The position will support complex accounting related to stock-based compensation, equity awards, international pension plans and employee benefit programs. The work is highly analytical, Excel-intensive and performed in a fast-paced corporate environment.
What You’ll Do
- Support accounting for equity grants, RSUs, PSUs and related stock-compensation expense.
- Maintain and review detailed models tied to vesting schedules, forfeitures and company performance metrics.
- Update PSU calculations using measures such as sales growth and EPS.
- Reconcile equity and benefits activity from third-party administrators to payroll, HR records and the general ledger.
- Review international pension information and assist with US GAAP reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, rollforwards and quarter-end support.
- Investigate discrepancies across multiple systems and data sources.
- Maintain large Excel workbooks containing detailed calculations, assumptions and allocations.
- Support financial reporting, audit requests and process documentation.
- Work cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, HR, Payroll, Compensation and external administrators.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Four or more years of relevant accounting experience.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large, calculation-heavy workbooks.
- Strong journal-entry, reconciliation and analytical accounting experience.
- Ability to review formulas, trace source data and determine whether results are reasonable.
- Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn specialized accounting processes quickly.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Public-company or multinational-company experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with stock compensation, equity accounting, pensions, benefits accounting is highly preferred but not required.
