Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators and other life-support equipment
- Perform detailed patient assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop individualized care plans aligned with medical directives
- Utilize advanced skills such as IV infusion, catheterization, suturing, and aseptic technique to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers to coordinate care strategies
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA and NCQA standards
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations using critical care response procedures, including airway management and acute pain management
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, post-discharge care, and health coaching to promote recovery and well-being
Skills
- Extensive ICU experience with proficiency in critical care medicine, trauma medicine, and emergency response procedures
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and laboratory experience
- Skilled in the use of EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic for accurate documentation and patient management
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, and individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities
- Competence in advanced nursing procedures such as ventilator management, tube feeding, dialysis support, ostomy care, and infection control practices
- Familiarity with hospital protocols including triage, discharge planning, infection control standards (e.g., CDC guidelines), and HIPAA compliance
- Ability to perform physical examinations, venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertion/injection administration, specimen collection/processing, and sterile processing techniques
