POSITION: Membership and Operations Intern
(Non-Exempt – Intern up to 40 hours/week)
REPORT TO: This position reports directly to the Director, Administration and works closely with
the Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships through a dotted-line reporting relationship.
LOCATION: Washington, D.C.
RATE: $18 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY

As the Membership and Operations Intern learn the art of a high-performing membership organization. The Membership and Operations Intern will support ACHP in program management, meetings and events, member relations and daily operations. This hands-on role offers exposure to a dynamic nonprofit in Washington, DC, assisting with event logistics, strengthening member programs and collaborating across departments—gaining valuable skills in project coordination as well as exposure to nonprofit governance. This role offers excellent growth opportunities for an energetic, enterprising individual. May be considered for a future full-time position.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordination & Membership (45%)
• Support several departments with scheduling, calendar management and meeting coordination.
• Manage speaker forms for webinars and in-person events in partnership with program and events teams.
• Maintain and update member information in the association management system, including contacts and permissions.
Meetings & Events (45%)
• Research and assist with logistics for meetings, webinars, dinners and other member programming.
• Coordinate event preparation, including online listings, registration, speaker communication and deadline management.
• Support sponsorship and affiliate member engagement through tracking, inquiry response, prep sessions and marketing material distribution.
• Provide on-site support for local ACHP meetings.
Operations (10%)
• Provide office support, including keeping public areas tidy, greeting guests, coordinating catering and other assigned tasks.
• Maintain knowledge of core Operations functions to ensure role redundancy.
• Contribute to a collaborative, collegial team environment in support of organizational goals.
• Provide administrative support to senior leaders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s or 2-year degree preferred
• Event planning experience a plus
• Excellent time-management and project-management skills and the capacity to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong written and oral communications skills
• Demonstrated customer service ethic
• Ability to interact productively with member plans, ACHP staff and work in a highly collaborative environment
• Advanced skills in MS Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access); CRM and database experience a plus)
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Work is in an office environment
• Hybrid office position/must be located in the DMV area
• May be occasionally required to stand, walk or reach with arms
