Summary/objective
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the unique needs of a franchising business model. This role will have certain members of the accounting department reporting to them. The Accounting Manager will also manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Essential functions
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare internal and external reports for management, auditors, and other regulatory bodies.
- Provide financial analysis and support for various strategic initiatives.
- Accounting Operations:
- Lead the month-end closing process, including reconciliation of accounts and preparation of journal entries.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
- Coordinate the year-end close & audit activities and preparation of annual financial statements and reports.
- Coordinate external audits and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted amounts, providing explanations and recommendations.
- Work with department heads to ensure accurate financial forecasting and budget adherence.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Maintain and improve the organization’s internal control framework.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
- Support the Controller in implementing and monitoring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of the team.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure deadlines are met.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial reporting, accounting, and internal controls.
- Implement new accounting systems or software, as needed, to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes.
- Special Projects:
- Lead or participate in special projects as assigned by management, such as system implementations, financial modeling, or mergers and acquisitions.

- Standard business hours although some overtime may be required to meet deadlines or manage unexpected issues
Travel required
- Minimal travel, if any
Required education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred education and experience
- Preferred experience in franchising or multi-brand environment
- CPA preferred
