Corporate Communications Specialist / Specialist II (depending on experience)

Carmel, IN

The position will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and editing PowerPoint presentations in accordance with the company’s brand standards and style guide. Responsibilities will also include assisting with the development of the company’s annual report, designing and developing promotional materials and other graphics, and developing media, such as video and audio content. Additionally, the position will be responsible for updating and maintaining the company’s website and social media accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities

Branding and Corporate Communications

  • Provide guidance to ACES employees for compliance with brand standards
  • Assist with the creation of various forms of communication, including the company’s annual report, PowerPoint presentations, and social media content
  • Assist with developing and maintaining company templates
  • Proofread and edit PowerPoint presentations to ensure compliance with brand standards and style guidelines, including enhancing PowerPoint presentations with graphics, images, etc.
  • Design corporate logos, as needed
  • Produce effective marketing/promotional materials and other collateral by designing layouts and choosing artwork, colors, fonts, etc. 

Digital and Web Management

  • Update the department’s internal SharePoint page, as needed
  • Recommend, implement, and maintain website design, content, and operation

Photography, Video, and Audio Production

  • Assist with coordination of photography, including employee headshots, lifestyle photos, and event photography, as needed
  • Produce, record, and edit audio and video content
    • Produce, record, and edit the company podcast, as well as other audio content, as needed
    • Produce, record, and edit videos/b-roll/graphics, as needed
    • Manage media asset pipelines and archives (naming, metadata, storage, versioning) to support reuse across channels

Organizational Support

  • Manage and prioritize email communications, responding to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain awareness of ongoing projects, deadlines, and action items through effective organization and follow-through 
  • Accurately track assignments and ensure completion of deliverables
  • Prepare for and actively participate in meetings, including documenting key discussions, decisions, and assigned tasks
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail 
  • Independently manage workload, identify priorities, and proactively communicate progress, challenges, and resource needs
  • Exercise sound professional judgment 
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and project files, as required
  • Assist with planning and execution of ACES’ annual Energy Conference, as needed
  • Adhere to and support all of ACES’ corporate policies
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by management
  • Travel as requested

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field 
  • Some relevant work experience required. 3 years of related work experience preferred for Specialist II
  • Energy industry experience preferred

Technical Skills

  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
  • Experience in audio and visual production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro )
  • Strong knowledge of website management and related tools (WordPress, Elementor, WP Engine), ability to build and maintain websites
  • Experience with audio and video production, including use of cameras, microphones, lighting, audio interfaces, and related tools 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, and other business communication and productivity tools
  • Experience with Canva
  • Experience with HTML and CSS
  • Basic understanding of search engine optimization and Google analytics

Creative and Design Expertise

  • Understanding of visual principles like color theory, typography, and layout
  • Ability to develop innovative and engaging communication concepts

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong grammar, proofreading, and editing abilities
  • Professional communication with executives and stakeholders
  • Works to develop professional and supportive relationships with others
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, strong interpersonal skills, and willingness to take on a variety of roles and tasks

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities 
  • Produces work that is professional and well-presented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively
  • Focuses on details to ensure accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to manage professional correspondence and respond to communications in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and follow through on commitments with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
