What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensing Specialist position at Alliance for Community Empowerment Inc?
JOB SUMMARY: Performs site visits to childcare facilities to monitor for compliance with program mandates and state statutes. Ensure enforcement of childcare regulations and the provision of quality child development programs. Also responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of safe childcare facilities, policies, and procedures.
Children supervision responsibility: Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments to assess compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations to ensure facilities meet existing health and safety codes.
- Visit Early Learning sites (planned or unannounced visits) to monitor and ensure compliance.
- Prepare, analyze, and review data to be submitted upon request or with monthly/quarterly reports.
- Work closely with Site Managers/Senior Management staff to meet all licensing and state health requirements.
- Attend meetings and agency events required to perform assigned duties and that also support the agency’s mission and vision.
- Facilitate training related to licensing components including health and safety, compliance, and regulations.
- Willingness to enhance job knowledge through training and education as required or necessary.
- Timely reporting of health and safety issues/concerns; communicate immediate concerns to supervisor or Senior Management staff.
- Assist the Senior Coordinator of Licensing in all related functions including
- Adhere to Alliance for Community Empowerment Inc. policies and procedures related to prevention and response to COVID-19, including participating in training, use of PPE, implementation of universal precautions, social distancing, and keeping the workspace clean.
- Assist with daily health screening and monitoring as related to COVID-19.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Associate’s Degree in a related field and two years of experience inspecting, licensing, and monitoring child care centers, and/or family day care homes.
- Strong computer literacy, database, spreadsheet and word processing, internet, and email capabilities.
- Specific knowledge of Department of Public Health regulations, Department of Children and Families guidelines, OSHA policies, Head Start Program Performance Standards, School Readiness, Child Day Care, and Family Care requirements.
- Willingness to participate in recruitment activities.
- Knowledge and experience in data collection and information processes and systems along with knowledge of childcare regulations, policy, and procedure compliance.
- Ability to handle highly stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities and work independently.
- Knowledge of procedures and practices which ensure safe and sanitary conditions at child care centers.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports.
- Ability to understand and explain applicable regulations and codes.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Must have a valid CT driver’s license with a good driving record and willingness to travel.
