Electrical Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/objective

• Ability to communicate well in written and verbal communications with other disciplines.
• Work well with a team to develop systems for fixing problems or create solutions to get the job done.
• Plan, size and design power distribution systems, substations, transformers, generators, and circuit breakers.
• Proficiency in power system simulation tools (AutoCAD, ETAP, SPICE, or PLS-CAD) and a strong grasp of three-phase power and electromagnetics
• System Analysis & Studies: Perform load calculations, power flow analyses, and short-circuit studies using software like ETAP, SKM, or PSCAD.
• Professionalism and a good work ethic.
• Manage time, supplies and budget.
• Ability to perform field data gathering with little to no supervision.
• Ability to provide support and assistance to co-workers as appropriate.

Duties

• Field measurements and sketches.
• Data entry of field measurements and notes.
• Exercise creative thinking to devise new systems and innovative ways to work.
• Creating accurate project specifications.
• Creating technical reports for customers.
• Preparing estimates and budgets.

Competencies

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
• Teamwork and collaboration.
• Knowledge of basic discipline symbols, drafting standards, and codes.
• Ability to read and understand civil, piping, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drawings.
• EIT or PE preferred in Electrical
• Supervisory responsibilities:
• Guide coworkers that may have less experience in the field of engineering under direction of supervisor.

Work environment:

• Located in the Beaumont office with some onsite plant work when visiting client site. No remote option at this time.

Physical demands:

• May walk stairs, platforms, scaffolds when visiting client sites.

Travel required:

• 0-10% Only when visiting client sites.

Required education and experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• 3-8 years minimum experience
