Responsibilities

• Dig trenches for and around existing utilities.
• Use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or a transit level.
• Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction, primarily for wet utilities (water and sewer).
• Grade and level trench bases, using a tamping machine and hand tools.
• Check slopes to requirements, using levels or lasers.
• Connect pipes and seal joints using glue, cement, gaskets, and/or flanges.
• Cover pipes with other earth materials/aggregates.
• Other general labor and construction-related duties.
• Learn to operate an excavator, wheel loader, compaction roller and/or skid loaders
