Alliance Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Worker to ensure the safety, comfort, and functionality of our facility. The ideal candidate will oversee repairs, upkeep, and maintenance of building systems—providing a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with NJ Department of Health (DOH), OSHA, and local safety regulations.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete work orders in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.
Conduct daily safety inspections and facility walkthroughs to identify and address potential hazards.
Assist with fire safety drills and maintain emergency systems, including fire alarms, generators, and exit lighting.
Support infection control by maintaining HVAC filters and ensuring all areas meet sanitation standards.
Perform minor carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping duties as needed.
Collaborate with and assist outside contractors during scheduled maintenance, inspections, or renovations.
Maintain safe outdoor walkways and grounds, including snow and ice removal when necessary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with NJ Department of Health regulations for nursing home facilities preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully with elderly residents.
Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
Willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
Basic computer skills for work order tracking and maintenance reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in HVAC, electrical, or building maintenance.
Knowledge of CMS, OSHA, and NJ DOH regulations for long-term care facilities.
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
