Job Overview:
We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Yard Worker to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for operating a forklift to load, unload, and move various materials, such as bricks, blocks, stones, and other construction-related items. You will also be required to manually lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. This is an outdoor position, and you must be able to work in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Forklift Operation:
- Safely operate a forklift to load and unload materials from trucks.
- Move materials around the yard to designated storage areas.
- Ensure that materials are stacked and stored properly to prevent damage or accidents.
- Material Handling:
- Manually lift and carry up to 50 pounds of materials as needed.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the yard to ensure efficient workflow.
- Inspect materials for quality, ensuring they meet company standards.
- Safety:
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures, including wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any incidents or safety hazards immediately.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- General Yard Maintenance:
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Assist with general yard duties, including the maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Perform routine inspections of forklifts and other equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Qualifications:
- Preferred prior experience operating a forklift.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds manually.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Basic understanding of yard operations and materials handling.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
