Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Settlement Officer to join our growing Tax Relief team. The Sr. Settlement Officer will be responsible for negotiating and resolving IRS and state tax liabilities on behalf of clients while providing exceptional customer service throughout the resolution process.
The ideal candidate has experience working with IRS collections, tax resolution programs, and client case management. Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Review client financial documents and tax transcripts to determine the best resolution strategy
- Negotiate directly with the IRS and state tax agencies on behalf of clients
- Prepare and submit tax resolution applications, including:
- Offer in Compromise
- Installment Agreements
- Currently non-collectible status
- Penalty Abatement requests
- Innocent Spouse Relief
- Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case progress and expectations
- Ensure all case files are accurate, compliant, and properly documented
- Meet productivity and case resolution goals
- Coordinate with attorneys, enrolled agents, tax preparers, and case managers as needed
- Stay current on IRS procedures, compliance requirements, and tax resolution programs
Qualifications
- Previous experience in tax relief, tax resolution, REQUIRED
- Proven track record of high-volume production
- Knowledge of IRS procedures and settlement programs
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with CRM systems and tax resolution software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience handling high-volume case inventories
- Strong customer service and client retention abilities
- Ability to interpret financial statements and IRS transcripts
- Ongoing training and professional development
