Machine Operator (FFS)

Purpose: 

APS seeks a Form Fill Seal Machine Operator to be responsible for operating and maintaining Form Fill Seal (FFS) machines used in the packaging and manufacturing industry.  Form Fill Seal Machine Operators play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and quality of the packaging process. They work as part of a team to meet production goals while maintaining the safety and integrity of the products being packaged.  They are tasked with ensuring the efficient and safe operation of these machines to package products in various industries, such as food, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods. This role requires attention to detail, technical knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments as needed to maintain production quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following.

1. Machine Setup:
   • Prepare the FFS machine for operation by configuring it according to the specific product, packaging material, and production requirements.
   • Load and align packaging materials, including film and lid stock roll roll good , onto the machine.
   • Set up and adjust printing function on the machine.
   • Set up and adjust machine components, such as forming tubes, fillers, and sealing bars, to meet production specifications.

1. Operation:
   • Monitor the FFS machine during operation to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently.
   • Start and stop the machine as needed for product changeovers, material replenishment, and maintenance.
   • Control the machine's speed, temperature, and other parameters to maintain product quality and consistency.

1. Quality Control:
   • Inspect packaged products for quality, including proper seals, accurate filling, and correct labeling.
   • Make necessary adjustments to the machine settings to correct any defects or issues in the packaging process.
   • Conduct routine quality checks and record data to ensure compliance with quality standards.

1. Troubleshooting:
   • Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions or operational issues promptly.
   • Perform minor repairs and adjustments, such as changing worn-out parts or clearing jams.
   • Notify maintenance or engineering personnel for major repairs or complex issues.

1. Maintenance:
   • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing machine components as needed.
   • Keep a log of maintenance activities and report any potential issues to the maintenance department.

1. Safety:
   • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
   • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and operate the machine in a manner that minimizes risks to oneself and others.

1. Documentation:
   • Follow  company’s QMS requirement and maintain accurate records of production output, machine settings, and quality checks.
   • Document any issues, downtime, or maintenance activities for reporting and analysis.

1. Communication:
   • Collaborate with other team members, including supervisors, quality control personnel, and maintenance staff.
   • Communicate any production-related concerns or issues to the appropriate parties.

Education & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating Form Fill Seal (FFS) machines or similar packaging equipment is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
• Strong communication skills.

Physical Demands 

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
• Understanding of safety procedures and willingness to adhere to them.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and machine control.
