Job Title: Chief Business Development Officer

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary

The Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) is responsible for developing and executing Allergy Partners' enterprise growth strategy through mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, de novo expansion, and physician relationship development. This executive leader identifies and evaluates acquisition opportunities, builds and maintains a robust pipeline of physician practice partnerships, and leads transaction execution from initial outreach through successful integration.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership Team, physicians, legal counsel, and operational leaders, the CBDO ensures all growth initiatives align with the organization's strategic objectives while preserving Allergy Partners' physician-centric culture and commitment to exceptional patient care. The role requires a strong understanding of healthcare services, physician practice management, healthcare regulations, valuation, and change management to successfully expand the organization's national footprint.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the organization's long-term growth strategy through acquisitions, strategic partnerships, de novo expansion, and other strategic growth initiatives.
  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities through market intelligence, demographic analysis, referral trends, competitive assessments, and physician landscape analysis.
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish and execute annual and multi-year growth objectives aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Evaluate emerging service lines, strategic alliances, and adjacent healthcare opportunities that support sustainable growth.

M&A Origination & Transaction Execution

  • Develop and manage a robust, multi-year acquisition pipeline across priority markets through proactive outreach to physician practices, health systems, referral partners, and transaction intermediaries.
  • Represent Allergy Partners at industry conferences, medical society meetings, and networking events to expand acquisition opportunities and strategic relationships.
  • Lead target qualification and strategic, operational, financial, and cultural fit assessments, including review of financial information, practice performance, and Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs).
  • Partner with Finance, FP&A, Legal, and Compliance to lead valuation analyses, financial modeling, synergy assessments, deal structuring, and negotiation of transaction documents.
  • Coordinate cross-functional due diligence across clinical operations, finance, legal, compliance, HR, revenue cycle, IT, cybersecurity, payor contracting, and operations.
  • Ensure transactions comply with applicable healthcare regulations, including AKS, Stark Law, HIPAA, Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM), and antitrust requirements.
  • Prepare executive, Board, and investor presentations while managing transaction timelines, stakeholder alignment, and successful deal execution.

Physician Relationship Management

  • Serve as the executive relationship owner for physician partners throughout the acquisition lifecycle, from initial engagement through integration.
  • Build trusted partnerships with physicians by understanding their strategic, financial, and operational objectives and communicating Allergy Partners' physician value proposition.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on physician alignment strategies, including compensation models, employment agreements, equity participation, leadership opportunities, and long-term engagement.

Integration & Growth Enablement

  • Co-lead post-acquisition integration efforts with Operations, developing Day 1, Day 100, and long-term integration plans.
  • Establish and monitor synergy targets and key performance indicators, including revenue growth, operational efficiencies, referral expansion, patient access, physician retention, and employee engagement.
  • Champion physician-centered change management that preserves organizational culture, patient care quality, and local market reputation.
  • Evaluate de novo expansion, tuck-in acquisitions, and strategic partnerships that strengthen referral networks and support long-term organizational growth.

Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on business development, market opportunities, and enterprise growth strategy.
  • Develop business cases and strategic recommendations for investments and expansion opportunities.
  • Foster collaboration across Finance, Legal, Operations, Clinical Leadership, HR, IT, Revenue Cycle, Marketing, and other functional areas to support successful growth initiatives.
  • Present acquisition strategy, pipeline performance, integration results, and return on investment to the Board of Directors and private equity sponsors.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines
  • established by the practice.
  • Completes all assigned AP training (such as CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, Compliance, Information Security, others) within designated timeframes.
  • Complies with Allergy Partners policies and reports incidents of policy violations to a Supervisor/Manager/Director, Department of Compliance & Privacy or via the AP EthicsPoint hotline.
  • Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures, actively participate in enforcement of all ongoing Cybersecurity efforts to ensure safe and secure IT systems for all employees and clients at Allergy Partners. Remain vigilant and aware of new threats and assist the company by fulfilling an active role in observing, enforcement and reporting of cybersecurity incidents, efforts, programs and fulfill required training on a timely basis as required by frequency and due dates.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare business development, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, private equity-backed healthcare organizations, physician practice management, investment banking, or healthcare consulting.
  • Minimum of 7 years leading complex healthcare transactions and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success sourcing, negotiating, and executing physician practice acquisitions.
  • Strong understanding of physician practice operations, healthcare reimbursement, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through transaction execution and post-merger integration.
  • Proven ability to build executive-level relationships with physicians, healthcare executives, investors, and external advisors.
  • Exceptional financial analysis, negotiation, strategic planning, and executive presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Finance, or related discipline.
  • Experience in physician practice management, multisite healthcare services, specialty physician groups, or private equity-backed healthcare organizations.
  • Experience with allergy/immunology, ENT, or other outpatient specialty practice acquisitions.
  • Familiarity with valuation methodologies, healthcare financial modeling, Quality of Earnings (QoE), and due diligence processes.
  • Demonstrated success integrating acquired physician practices while maintaining physician engagement and organizational culture.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

This position generally involves extended periods of sitting, standing, and travel. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to observe and interpret information. Must be able to use a computer, keyboard, and telephone regularly. Occasional lifting of materials or files weighing up to 20 pounds may be necessary.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with regular travel to medical practice sites. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Overnight travel may be necessary.
