    Contract: Full-time salaried. Work schedule aligned to the school year calendar. Work weeks will start 2 weeks prior to the first student day and end 1 week beyond the last student day each school year.
    Salary Range: $74,519 - $80,600; salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
    Position Purpose
    The Assistant Principal for Evergreen Elementary provides building-level leadership to support a safe, positive, and academically strong learning environment for all students. This role supports the Principal in instructional leadership, student behavior systems, supervision, staff support, and day-to-day operations, and serves as acting principal in the principal's absence.
    Qualifications
    • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration or equivalent preferred.
    • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
    • Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate preferred.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience or K-12 school experience.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of successful school administration experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
    Essential Job Responsibilities & Functions
    School Climate, Behavior Systems, and Student Supports
    • Provide building-level leadership in school climate, behavior systems, and student support structures, including effective supervision systems.
    • Review and address student misconduct requiring administrative attention.
    • Implement appropriate interventions and/or disciplinary responses for students.
    • Counsel and advise individuals and groups regarding student behavior, parental concerns, and the school's mission.
    • Lead implementation of PBIS at the building level and coordinate/lead the building Positive Behavior Support System.
    • Serve on the building's School Leadership Team (Tier 1) and Advanced Tier Team (Tier 2) to support tiered student interventions (e.g., PBIS/MTSS systems).
    • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to address academic and behavioral student needs.
    Staff Leadership & Evaluation
    • Supervise and evaluate professional and support staff through formal and informal observations, and provide feedback and support for growth.
    • Advise staff members on issues related to school policy, student behavior, and building procedures.
    • Assist in interviewing and hiring processes for elementary staff, as assigned.
    Instructional Support & School Improvement
    • Support curriculum and instructional improvement through collaboration with staff and administration.
    • Participate in school improvement meetings and support implementation of building goals.
    • Assist the Principal with planning and coordinating professional learning (in-services, workshops).
    Operations, Scheduling, and Student Supervision
    • Coordinate student supervision systems including arrival, transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
    • Assist with master scheduling, lunch scheduling, staff assignments, and student activity planning.
    • Assist with lunchtime supervision and other student supervision duties as assigned.
    Leadership Coverage
    • Serve as acting principal when the principal is absent.
    • Sponsor and advise student organizations/activities, as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support building leadership and district priorities.

    • Knowledge of research-based instructional practices and effective school leadership structures.
    • Ability to inspire and motivate staff, students, and families around a shared vision.
    • Strong data analysis skills and ability to translate data into action plans and measurable results.
    • Effective verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and maintain accuracy and confidentiality.

    Additional Duties:
    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
    • Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, and telephone.
    • Travel Requirements: Travel to school district buildings, student extra-curricular activities and professional meetings as required.
    • Maintain regular, reliable attendance.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
    • Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.
    • Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate.
