What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUE Technician II position at Allen Underground?
We are seeking a full-time Subsurface Utility Exploration (SUE) Technician II position. The duties include, but are not limited to, standing and walking for long periods, using a shovel to expose buried utilities safely, and other responsibilities designated by the crew leader.
Expectations, qualifications, and responsibilities:
- Daily, show up to work on time according to work schedule
- Willing to learn, detail-oriented, goal-driven, problem solver
- Be self-motivated to learn and advance within the company
- Assist SUE Tech III (crew leader) with assigned field tasks and data collection
- Working outside in adverse conditions including heat, humidity, rain, and cold
- Maintain truck tools and equipment and make sure the truck is organized and clean
- Walk long distances in rough terrain, high traffic areas, dirt, & soft sand
- Able to correctly take measurements
- Assist with the operation of vacuum excavation equipment
- Drive/operate company vehicles
- Have legible handwriting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate questions and/or troubleshooting
- Have an understanding of the ASCE 38-22 standards
- Must have a VALID Florida driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record (Required)
- Be able to pass a criminal background check (Required)
- Skilled with RF locating & GPR (RF& GPR Certification Preferred, not required)
- 2 – 5 years of SUE experience (minimum 2 years' experience as a SUE Technician 1)
- Proficient with survey equipment (total stations and GPS)
- Land Survey experience (Preferred, not required)
- Familiar with the operation of vacuum excavation equipment
- Able to take constructive criticism
- Must possess practical written and oral communication skills
- Proficient technical skills, process oriented, helpful, honest, trustworthy, adaptable, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, and precise behavioral traits.
- Quick learner with the ability to fully complete a given task
- Fluent Spanish is a plus
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements
- Strong work ethic and team-player attitude
- Strong interpersonal skills, including maintaining composure under pressure, interacting with others face-to-face, by telephone, and other communication methods using active listening skills and excellent teamwork.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or work as a team to do so
- Ability to work with others in a group or team and remain flexible despite interruptions and/or routine changes to priorities and/or job duties.
- Occasional out of town travel may be required
- This position reports directly to the SUE crew leader
Physical Demands:
The SUE Technician II must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time and pay close attention to detail. The work environment does require physical movement.
Availability:
This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime and weekends as required.
Travel:
To perform this position's duties, travel to respective job sites in Central Florida and within the state of Florida will be required.
