What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) position at Allen Pharmacy & Wellness?
The job duties of certified pharmacy tech shall include the following:
- Greeting patients upon entry to welcome in the pharmacy
- Data entry to get new prescriptions typed in the computer/ or refill requests
- Proficiency in answering phone calls and helping answer customer queries on the phone
- Proficient in medication names and being comfortable speaking to other health care providers over the phone.
- Preparation of medications for patients
- Receiving and verifying the prescriptions
- Pricing and filling of prescriptions
- Obtaining pharmacist’s approval for tasks beyond technician scope.
- Completing patient paperwork related to the filling of prescription
- Assisting with insurance claims processing
- Stocking and pricing of medications in inventory
- Ensuring availability of drugs by delivering them to patients or facilities
- Maintaining pharmacy’s (and its patients’ employees’) safety by adhering to infection-control procedures, policies and regulations
Compounding experience preferred but not required. Will train on the job.
