Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Supervisor to oversee our first-shift operations. This hands-on leadership role will manage a team of 12 to 15 employees and be responsible for ensuring daily production targets, quality standards, and safety procedures are met. The ideal candidate will be a decisive problem-solver with a strong background in metal fabrication processes and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and supervise 12-15 production employees, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and collaboration.
- Production Scheduling: Manage the production schedule, monitor workflow, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and adjust resources to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all products meet customer specifications and internal quality benchmarks by conducting regular quality checks and process audits.
- Safety & Compliance: Promote a positive, safe working environment by leading safety meetings, conducting safety observations, and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
- Training & Development: Oversee and participate in the training and development of shop personnel to build a high-performing team.
- Organization & Cleanliness: Implement and maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness throughout the production floor, potentially utilizing 5S principles.
- Disciplinary Measures: Take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary, manage attendance, and participate in the hiring process in partnership with HR.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; an additional degree in engineering or a related field is a bonus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, 2D drawings, and 3D models.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement (Kaizen), and quality assurance practices.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and production tracking/ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
