JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for general supervision consisting of day to day operation of the lab, which includes: scheduling, test performance, verification, corrective action monitoring, employee training, orientation employee evaluation, proficiency test analysis, quality control and quality assurance monitoring, resolving, technical problems, instrument performance, and ordering supplies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draws patient blood according to policy and procedure
- Accessioning of patient request
- Enter patient information in computer accurately
- Runs chemistry analyzer efficiently
- Runs hematology analyzer efficiently
- Distribution of patient reports
- Filing of patient reports
- Performs kit testing according to manufactures specifications
- Performs microscopic procedures accurately
- Runs urinalysis analyzer
- Runs coagulation analyzer
- Performs blood banking procedures according to AABB and laboratory policy and procedure manuals
- Quality control review and corrective action monitoring
- Quality assurance review and corrective action
- Ordering supplies
- Stores all patient and QC data on computer disk
- Ensures adequate staffing
- Participates and analyzes proficiency test results
- Performs charges for Business Office
- Adequate communication when necessary
License Requirements:
- Current and active Clinical Laboratory Scientist license through Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
- CLS Technician or Generalist
- BLS CPR certification
