Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary

Local contracting company in need of an Accounts Payable Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company's accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting overall financial compliance.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify invoices using our financial software.
• Provide purchase orders and track purchase history
• Perform account reconciliations, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries to maintain precise financial records.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly through effective communication with suppliers and internal departments.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial data while handling invoice processing, data entry, and record keeping.
• Assist with month-end closing activities including general ledger reconciliation and accruals related to accounts payable.
• Support other finance functions such as accounts receivable management, payroll processing, and benefits administration as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related functions.
• Strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Excel data entry
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analysis skills for invoice processing and discrepancy resolution.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
• Effective communication skills for vendor interactions and cross-department collaboration.
• Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus but not required; a background in public accounting is advantageous.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
