What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager Civil position at Allen Keller Company?
The Civil Project Manager is responsible for verifying and supporting the successful delivery of TXDOT projects. Positioned primarily in the field, they will work closely with the General Superintendent and Superintendents to facilitate project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize with the President, project Superintendent, and Chief Estimator.
- Establish project objectives with the company President.
- Represent company by initiating and maintaining liaison with primary owner representatives.
- Facilitate and attend weekly owner meetings.
- Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site superintendents to ensure project is built on schedule, within budget, and meets all minority obligations.
- Manage all job administration and contract documentation with owner, subcontractors and suppliers
- Overall management of the financial aspects of contract, including job unit cost reports, billings, budget changes, change order, accounts payable processing and collections.
- Reviews deliverables prepared by Project Coordinator before submitting to client.
- Minimizes our exposure to risk on project.
- Maintain accurate forecasting and management of budgets
- Resolution of problems involving labor disputes, material deliveries and contracts/subcontract administration
- Create baseline schedule with the help of project Superintendent and ensure accuracy/integrity of Project Schedule
- Identify and resolve problems as they arise and ahead of production
- Focus on weekly costs and complete monthly JUCR
- Maintain an understanding of the current status of each project
- Prepares project status reports and works to ensure work adheres to contract specifications
- Coordinate short term schedule’s, week-by-week, with Superintendents.
- Attend client project meetings and record minutes on agenda.
- Be present on the job weekly to know the people and monitor project operations
- Work with Superintendents to identify & implement improvements to strategy and productivity
- Ensure Superintendents have necessary tools, labor, equipment and materials needed to be successful on the project.
- Understand project specifications and verify compliance
- Assist estimating dept. with project bids
- Draft RFI’s as questions/discrepancies arise; Prepare project submittals as required
- Lead progress meetings on a bi-weekly basis
- Oversee subcontract management
- Ensure all administrative functions are completed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Civil Construction Project Management.
- B.A./B.S. in Engineering or relevant field or Construction Project Management preferred
- Civil TXDOT experience preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Understanding of subdivision and highway construction methods and components.
- Familiarity with Construction Project Management Software.
