The Assistant Supervisor supports the daily operations, maintenance and supervision of the plant’s refrigeration systems, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Supports Allen Harim’s vision, mission and values
- Assist in supervising the daily activities of the refrigeration team to ensure smooth and efficient operation of all systems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related equipment.
- Support in scheduling and assigning work orders, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.
- Ensure compliance with PSM (Process Safety Management), RMP (Risk Management Program), and other regulatory requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
- Maintain detailed logs and records of maintenance, inspections, and system performance.
- Support startup, shutdown, and defrost operations as needed.
- Assist in training and mentoring technicians on safety, procedures, and equipment operation.
- Participate in system audits, inspections, and emergency response activities.
- Monitor ammonia levels, pressures, and temperatures to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and safety departments to minimize downtime and maintain safe operations.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and actively promote a safe work environment.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement, energy savings, and system optimization.
- All other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Five years of industrial refrigeration experience
- Related technical training
- RETA I – IV Certified (preferred)
Knowledge/Skills - High degree of attention to detail
- Strong understanding of ammonia refrigeration systems, controls, and equipment.
- Knowledge of PSM, RMP, and OSHA standards.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Computer proficiency for logging, maintenance tracking, and reporting.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Work Environment |
- Work environment is predominantly wet and exposed to a variety of odors as well as presenting with hot and cold temperatures. Ice box storage and chilled warehouse conditions may be present with moderate to extreme levels of noise. Safety protection is provided.
