Summary
The qualified applicant must have an excellent attendance record and a sense of urgency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs, bend, reach, stand, squat, walk and climb.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports Allen Harim’s Vision, Mission and Values
- Manage the chick processing flow from: hatchers, automation, vaccination and counting to farms.
- Responsible for managing egg sets, incubation, chick processing, and delivery.
- Responsible for managing parts & supply inventories as well as order entry.
- Mentor staff to develop knowledge of all other hatchery operations.
- Assist and cover for other people in all areas of the hatchery to insure operation requirements are met.
- Responsible for managing the maintenance of the equipment in the hatchery ensuring equipment is running effectively and safely.
- Ensure the animal welfare are maintained and that employee training on animal welfare is completed timely and effectively on schedule.
- Responsible for managing daily sanitation and managing the general housekeeping of the hatchery.
- Manage the hatchery area to reduce stress on the chicks being processed to ensure the best chick quality possible is being delivered to the farms for growth.
- Responsible for tours of the hatchery for clients, senior management and new hires.
- Oversee and assist manager with hatchery projects.
- Handle any tasks deemed necessary by the hatchery manager.
- Works with safety and maintenance staff to establish and maintain safety policies and procedures and participate in safety meetings.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and information regarding hatchery equipment and operations; takes advantage of training opportunities when appropriate.
- Must be available 24/7 to handle situations as they arise.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but will take experience in lieu of degree
- Knowledge of Hatchery operations and standard safety procedures.
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to listen and understand information and ideas
- Ability to communicate information and ideas through speaking and writing
- Ability to see details at close range
- Ability to recognize a problem and take necessary steps toward solving problems
- Ability to compile, categorize, tabulate, audit or verify information as needed
Knowledge/Skills
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multiple task
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs
