Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Diagnostics, the Registered Nurse delivers professional nursing care consistent with accepted standards of practice and in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This position supports the medical needs of juveniles housed within a secure detention environment and works closely with physicians, staff, and families to ensure continuity of care.

Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Diagnostics, the Registered Nurse delivers professional nursing care consistent with accepted standards of practice and in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This position supports the medical needs of juveniles housed within a secure detention environment and works closely with physicians, staff, and families to ensure continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments of detained juveniles, including documentation of health concerns, medications, treatments, and follow-up needs
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
- Participate in weekly medical clinics with the physician, assisting as needed and maintaining accurate medical records
- Coordinate medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments with outside providers
- Provide daily sick call services and respond to medical emergencies, first aid needs, and urgent care situations
- Communicate medical concerns to Juvenile Center administration and intake staff
- Maintain appropriate communication with parents and guardians regarding health-related matters
- Provide First Aid and CPR training for Juvenile Center staff and Court personnel
- Monitor and maintain medical supplies, equipment, and first aid kits
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of medical operations
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or ability to obtain)
- Knowledge of applicable healthcare laws and regulations
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive medical information
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel)
- Work is performed within a maximum-security juvenile detention facility
- Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting (up to 60 lbs)
- Exposure to medical equipment, cleaning chemicals, and a moderate noise level
- Frequent interaction with juveniles who may be emotionally distressed or occasionally aggressive
